FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe Laboratory hosts four laboratory chamber furnaces of type K114 up to 1100 °C from Heraeus - Thermo Science. Additionally there are two high temperature furnaces type HTRV 70-250 up to 1600 °C from Gero. And it also contains two high temperature furnaces type HT 04/17 up to 1750 °C from Nabertherm.
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe Institute of Geological Sciences hosts a JEOL JXA 8200 Superprobe equipped with five wavelength-dispersive spectrometers (WDS) and one energy-dispersive (EDS) detector. We perform non-destructive chemical analysis and imaging of solid materials at the micrometer scale using a focused electron beam. The instrument is primarily used in WDS mode for quantitative analysis against reference materials and element distribution mapping. Other applications are: qualitative element analysis (EDS, …
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe device "MAT-253" is equipped with a gasbench II, an elemental analyzer and a HT pyrolysis furnace. The following isotope ratios are measured carbonates δ¹⁸O and δ¹³C, water δD, δ¹⁸O, δ¹³C (DIC), barium sulfate (BaSO₄) δ³⁴S, δ¹⁸O, silver sulfide (Ag₂S) δ³⁴S, silver nitrate (AgNO₃) δ¹⁵N, δ¹⁸O.
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe Raman laboratory is equipped with a "Horiba ISA Dilor LabRAM" micro-confocal Raman spectrometer with a focal length of 300 mm and a spectral resolution of up to 3.5 cm⁻¹. Depending on the analyzed material and the applied method, the user can choose between the internal 632 nm He-Ne and an external 532 nm Nd-YAG laser. Maps and line scans can be done with the automated x-y table. The applications include phase identification of fluids, minerals and partly glasses (fingerprinting), …
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe "Automated Mineralogy Lab" is equipped with a field emission SEM and light microscope for thin section mapping. The Zeiss Sigma 300 VP Field-Emission Scanning Electron Microscope is equipped with a Zeiss Gemini column, two Bruker Quantax Xflash 60 mm² SSD EDS detectors for quantitative element analysis, one variable pressure secondary electron detector (VPSE), one high definition backscatter detector (HDBSE), one Inlens detector, two Zeiss ATLAS correlative microscopy systems, two …
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe X-Ray Powder Diffraction Lab is equipped with a Panalytical Empyrean X-Ray Diffractometer, which includes two different types of tubes: a cobalt-tube and a copper-tube. It also includes a PIXcel 1 Detector, which is capable of very fast measuring, a sample-changer with a 15-round magazine, and fixed divergence slit optics with different apertures from 1/16° – 2°.
