FU - Freie Universität BerlinComplete Fission Track dating facilities are available at the FU Berlin. We have a fully equipped mineral separation laboratory for concentrating apatite and zircon. Facilities for mounting, polishing, and etching samples are in collaboration with University of Potsdam. We host a Zeiss © Axioplan 2 microscope with a maximum magnification of 1250 x paired with a Drawing Board VI ©, stage control, LED courser mouse and the FT Stage © software for counting and length measurements. Data record and …
GFZ - German Research Centre for GeosciencesSimulating geodynamic processes is a challenging task because of the non-linearity and cross-scale nature of tectonic processes. A great challenge is the multispectral character of lithosphere deformation ranging from earthquake rupture (seconds) to tectonic evolution (Millions of years). At the same time, deformation mechanisms determined at the micro-scale (rock friction and crystal plasticity) are responsible for the motion and internal deformation of tectonic plates. This requires a …
FU - Freie Universität BerlinThe preparation lab offers different preparation methods such as thin-section production, polishes, dye methods, hardening methods and others.
