Sedimentology Facilities

The Sedimentology group at Universität Potsdam investigates the biological, physical, oceanographic and climatic processes that shape the sedimentary Earth System record. Our understanding of the interactions within the Earth system is  essential to forecast the impact of human activities on the environment we live in. Additionally, our work revolves around the sedimentary and diagenetic processes impacting naturally porous media, as a basis  to predict the evolution of fluid flow paths in sedimentary basins for sustainable energy utilization. The Sedimentology group at the Institute of Geosciences hosts a laboratory complex for sedimentological studies which consists of several sub-modules.
