Description

For our research on hydrogen storage, we operate a dedicated, separate hydrogen laboratory. This laboratory provides an excellent infrastructure to perform geochemical experiments on fluids, rock samples and hydrogen under relevant pressure and temperature conditions with the necessary precision and reproducibility. It is a H₂ reactor system build by Büchi AG that allows hydrogenation with high precision and under controlled conditions with determination of reaction kinetics. The system is designed for pressure up to 300 bar and temperature up to 200°C. The whole system is run and controlled by a specifically developed software (bls 2) that also provides a continuous hydrogenation report and allows determination of reaction kinetics even for long reaction times. A strength of the system is that it allows to precisely measure and determine the consumption of even smallest amounts of gas, e.g., during minimal reaction progress.
